‘Fuse’ Bars…

It is funny how certain foods can trigger memories from a specific time in your childhood. For me, Zzapp ice lollies, Flamin Hot Monster Munch and Cadburys Fuse bars bring back childhood memories of living in a small village in Suffolk where the summers were hot and life was much more simple. In a nutshell – no internet for a 7/8 year old to get on board with.

For years, I have wondered why Cadburys had not taken back the Fuse Bar. I loved them and was thrilled when the local bakery at my university (Aberdeen University if you’re wondering – or perhaps not) had them before they were discontinued (around 2006). Then I realised I could probably have a go at making them myself. So I did.

You will need:

400g Milk Chocolate
100g Fudge pieces
100g Raisins
100g Cashews or Peanuts (both work nicely)
50g Rice Crispies

Method:

001) Into a bowl, over a bain-marie, melt all the chocolate.
002) Remove the bowl from the heat and add in all the other ingredients.
003) Pour mixture into a tin lined with greaseproof/baking paper.
004) Chill in the fridge until set. Personally I like to keep these in the fridge at all times and then take them out when I fancy a piece or two…
