The main purpose of my trip down to Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago was to go on a Gin Tour at the Edinburgh Gin Distillery.
Once we had eventually found the distillery (it’s quite well hidden), we were taken through to learn all about the history of gin which included smelling some of the botanicals used in the making of the gin.
History absorbed, we were then introduced to where the magic happens: ‘Caledonia’ and ‘Flora and then….it was tasting time!
We tried 5 different gins: one Navy Strength, a Seaside Limited Edition, Raspberry Liqueur, Elderflower Liqueur and Rhubarb & Ginger Liqueur. We also had a G&T made with their ordinary gin, Fever Tree tonic and an Orange garnish – delicious!
My favourite Gin was definitely the Elderflower Liqueur and as part of our tour, we were each given a mini bottle of our favourite gin. With a little deliberation between the 3 liqueurs, I opted for the Elderflower one.
